Tracker Notes/Reviews
Android
ISS Detector Pro
- This is the main app I use now. I like it because I can select just the sats I want to see via filters, and at a glance I can open it up and see what sats are coming in range in the next few hours, or days. (also available on iOS but I don't believe it has all the same features as of 2018-04-19) - John Brier KG4AKV
Heavens-Above
- I sometimes use Heavens-Above to supplement ISS Detector because ISS Detector doesn’t show you the time of max elevation and I like to know this because I use the time to track where the satellite is. I go over these apps in detail at the end of a live stream I did. - John Brier KG4AKV
AmsatDroid
- It is free and it is not as pretty as the newer apps, but still works in a pinch. No globe view, no satellite filtering (you pick the one you want passes for in the next 24 hours). You can pick the time frame or date in the future you want to see passes for the particular satellite though. No notifications though. - Tom Schuessler N5HYP
W1ANT Satellite Tracker
- Added by request of the author, Heimir Thor Sverrisson W1ANT. - Brad Brooks WF7T
W1ANT Pro Satellite Tracker
- Added by request of the author, Heimir Thor Sverrisson W1ANT. - Brad Brooks WF7T
Look4Sat Radio satellite tracker
- Free app, added based on own experience - Koos PE4KH
iOS (iPhone/iPad)
SatSat
- Shows doppler shift @ 100 MHz. Not sure if it shows it at actual uplink/downlink frequencies. - John Brier KG4AKV
- Whenever people ask online what iOS app to use for tracking satellites this seems to be the most common answer. - John Brier KG4AKV
- Best free iOS ham radio satellite app. Allows you to select a userdefined group of satellites, calendar view is very convenient to see what's coming up, you can see transponders info and future passes of individual satellites in the "My Sats" view, allows you to send passes straight to your calendar, and overall UI is modern and slick. It indeed calculates doppler for transponders by clicking the doppler icon (see below) - Sterling Coffey N0SSC
HamSatHD
GoSatWatch and HamSat are far better than SatSat. HamSat does an excellent job with Doppler (handy for linear) and features like the time scroller in GoSatWatch make it a killer app. – Mike, W8LID
GoSatWatch
ProSat
- I like ProSat as it shows the Doppler frequency shifts live on the pass over. I think SatSat and SatelliteTrack have their own nice features too. - ZL3GAV
Sky Guide
ISS Detector
Originally only on Android, it is also available on iOS now.
Windows
SatPC32
- Takes some time to learn than Orbitron but very powerful. The most popular software for serious satellite operators. - John Brier KG4AKV
Orbitron
- Easier to setup but less powerful than SatPC32. You can see me using it to simulate passes in this video. - John Brier KG4AKV
- SatPC32 and Orbitron each have features the other doesn’t. I find I have to use both depending on what I want to do. I go over some of the features of these two programs at the end of the same live stream I mentioned above. - John Brier KG4AKV
WXtrack
- Added by request of the author, David Taylor GM8ARV. - Brad Brooks WF7T
GPredict
- Perhaps more popular on Linux, GPredict also runs on Windows; downloads are available from SourceForge.
- Gpredict is a real-time satellite tracking and orbit prediction application. It can track a large number of satellites and display their position and other data in lists, tables, maps, and polar plots (radar view). - website
- Gpredict allows seamless control of GQRX SDR software, as well as many of the popular satellite transceivers and antenna rotators. - K3RLD
Mac
MacDoppler
- Powerful satellite prediction software with radio and rotator control. Also interfaces with MacLoggerDX to automatically log frequencies (and sats?) - John Brier KG4AKV

Amsat.org.ar
- Amsat.org.ar is a fantastic website that gives me everything I want for tracking amateur radio satellites. Select the satellite you want from the list, then zoom in on the upper right portion of the window. Now place your phone/tablet/etc down and orient so that the top of the screen is facing north. The line will point to the azimuth of the satellite, and the elevation will be displayed above. Just below that, you will see the estimated Doppler corrections. - K3RLD
